Barcelona Officials Claim Villa And Cesc Want To Join Barcelona

Club officials at Barcelona have declared that Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas and Valencia striker David Villa want to sign for the Spanish champions and have confirmed that they are working towards bringing the duo to Catalunya.

Vice president for sport, Rafael Yuste has told Ona FM, that attempts to sign El Guaje are well advanced while they are waiting on Arsenal to name their price for Fabregas as the epic transfer saga involving the former canterano seems destined to continue for yet another summer.

Goal.com UK revealed on Tuesday that Fabregas has flown to London from Barcelona to think over his final decision on whether to make the sensational switch.

"That of Villa is well advanced. By contrast, Arsenal must make a starting price for Cesc, which they have not yet done, but both want to come here," Yuste stated.

Those comments were underpinned by director general Joan Oliver, who has acknowledged that the club are looking to make key additions to certain positions in the squad for next season. While he ultimately refused to confirm or deny that Villa and Fabregas were definite targets for the summer, he has implied the club are making steps towards signing the two Spain international stars.

"Our team is like a puzzle, one feature is that it has no specific objectives, but it is true that we are focusing on three specific positions. For us it is a compliment that players like Villa and Fabregas have expressed their desire to play with us," Oliver declared, as quoted by AS.

"These players are clear that they are top professionals, but there is a long process between when they produce such a statement and when they can be here."
